In Austin and Eating up a Storm

Austin is amazing, I'm so proud to be from such a cool city.

Here are some of my recent food adventures in Austin:

Franklin BBQ (new food stand)

pork ribs, brisket, pulled pork!!!! :D

Really, really good! I loved the sauces, three types... all really different. One was spicy, one vinegary and the other thick and sweet with espresso!

Good quality meats. The pulled pork was delicious and the brisket was juicy without being too fatty. Oh, and we had the lemon buttermilk pie... more lemon than buttermilk. Loved it.

Whip-In

It was a bit mushed with the bbq sauce

Creme Brulee with macerated cherries.

Good, though I wasn't crazy about the cherries,

would have like them better had they been fresh.

Light as far as pizza goes. Really loved it.

(I don't like olives...so that makes sense)

I'm going home to Austin in a couple days. So happy. I'm tired and I need a break, school drains me. Hopefully I'll get some great pictures while in Texas...One thing it does not lack is intriguing photo opportunities. I'll be cooking for the family as well, so maybe some sexy food pics? I don't know...I hardly ever make pretty food though. However, I LOVE the holiday season and I'll be savoring ever moment!

I just got back from Seattle, Vancouver, Victoria and Whistler this last week. I took So many photos! I'm actually a little overwhelmed by the sheer number that I need to go through. I'm pretty proud of some of the things I got though. I'm actually considering making an entire book of just this trip and/or the food photos I got. (Pikes Place and Granville Market!) Here are some of the photos from Seattle. It was extremely hot there, It actually broke an all time record of 103 degrees!

Hello, I've just started a summer internship with Peggy Dyer. How exciting! I'm glad that I'm finally getting some experience photographing people, you can see that I don't do that much. I did my first photo shoot yesterday, I love stepping out of my comfort zone and branching out. Here are some photos from around Boulder...these aren't from the photo shoot, but I'm sure I'll post some of those soon, there are some nice horse shots!

Royal Arch hike photos and talk of Paris

I went on a hike to Royal Arch several weeks ago, which was pretty challenging by the way...basically like climbing steep stairs the entire way. I loved it though...beautiful. I found some amazing flowers and whatnot along the way:

I find this wood fascinating!... it's so geometrical

I played with this in color and a lighter black and white

but I liked this contrast. It reminds me of a portrait

...just of a flower not a human

I took a biology class last semester and this reminds me of

a condensing circuit in a neuron. I'm so proud of myself...

applying my schooling to everyday life. ha ha

These petals were to delicate and fragile.

They remind me of porcelain

This was an image from Royal Arch. This photo had a really ethereal quality that I love,

due to a foggy haze that was hanging over.

Exciting News: I made the Dean's List at CU!

I used to be a pretty mediocre student, I'm

telling you...It's so rewarding to actually put myself into my work.

Oh, off subject...I just watched Bazaar Foods Paris. I love it! I want to go

to Maille (the mustard store) I have a weird thing about trying different

mustards..maybe you could call me a mustard connoisseur. ha ha

Paris is such a perplexing place..The first time I went I was so overwhelmed

with culture shock. I'm from Texas and people are so extremely friendly,

Parisians are just different, it's not a bad thing...I'm happy

that there are so many different cultures, if everyone were the same

the world would be so boring. Anyways, I want to go back to Paris!

I love France and Europe in general, I'll do a post soon with

some more photos from my trip.

I wish I had my photos from Zermatt in Switzerland. One of my favorites.

I went to Seattle and Portland a few years ago and Loved it. I loved the market of course and just the lush foliage in general. I'll be going again in about a month...and I have my new camera this time so I see a huge photo expedition in my future! Here are some images from my last trip:

Exciting News: I'm going to the Mediterranean next summer! I'm so excited to go and hope I can get some great photos. Sad story: When I went to Europe my wallet along with my photo memory card got stolen so I lost ALL of my images. I was far more upset about loosing my photos than my money or passport. I was devastated to say the least. I'll have my wallet and memory card glued to my body this time...ha ha.

Saturday, another rainy day in Boulder. I got some good images from the market though. There are really some very interesting people here...I wish there was a good bistro I could sit a with a good cafe au lait and watch people. I'm sort of a wallflower, I think people are fascinating.

I don't really like them so much to eat..they're sort of muddy, or can be.

We actually had them along the creek beds where I grew up.

Beautiful color though.

This man was crazy, he asked If I wanted his autograph.

Nice though, he told me I would have to come early, like 8am to get photos of the freshest produce, guess I might have to wake up early.

The Egg Drop. Love farm fresh eggs, They're more yellow than others. It reminds me of Round Rock doughnuts, which have a naturally orange color because of the eggs they use. Fabulous.

I tried some of the white ones, they were so sweet.

My first semester at CU is over! It's weird to think that at this time last year I was living in Austin in the heat and humidity working at a cafe with no idea that I would be here today. Anyway, I'm glad all the stress of finals is over...but I found out I got all A's! That means I have a 4.0! But hold on your immense excitement, that's for now...if I even get an A- next semester that drops..sad.

I'm taking an informal class at CU about creating a digital photo book, which I've done before but it was for someone else. Now I get to create mine! I'm just starting to realize the huge number of possibilities are open to me with this project. It's overwhelming at times. How do I choose which photos to choose? I certainly have favorites but they don't necessarily work together cohesively...what to do? I'm still mulling it over in my mind. These are some old images I like..but maybe just for nostalgic reasons.
